Your guide to tax season with Frec
2 min read
Tax season is here, and we want to help you navigate the process smoothly. Here’s everything you need to know about accessing your tax documents and preparing to file.
How to access your Frec tax documents
All tax documents will be available in your Tax Center. You can access this at any time here, by navigating to “Account” on our mobile app, or by clicking your name in the upper right-hand corner on web.
When your tax documents will be available
Our clearing firm, Apex Clearing, releases tax documents to customers in phases:
- The first phase went out on January 31
- The second phase will begin on February 17
- If there are corrections, additional releases will come every two weeks through April 15. More on this below.
Not every customer will receive tax documents in the first phase because the release timing depends on individual account activity and reporting requirements.
Why a tax form might change later
In some cases, you may receive a corrected tax form, sometimes even after April 15. While this might seem concerning, corrections are a standard part of brokerage tax reporting. Common reasons for corrections include issuer updates, custodian reporting, updated cost basis, or late-reported corporate actions, and are outside of Frec’s control.
You can learn more about why corrections happen in our Help Center.
What to look for in your tax documents
Once available, you’ll be able to see your consolidated 1099 Form, total proceeds, total cost basis, any wash sale adjustments that may apply, and net gains or losses.

How to import your Frec tax data into TurboTax
If you use TurboTax, you can link your Apex account directly to import your tax data and simplify the filing process.
