When the market is up, individual stocks can still dip. Frec turns those dips into potential tax savings by harvesting the loss and swapping them for similar assets. Since each loss offsets capital gains dollar-for-dollar*, you can lower your tax bill this year or bank the losses for down the road.
*There is no limit on how much capital gains you can offset with capital losses, and unused capital losses can be carried forward. For ordinary income, you can offset up to $3,000 per year, or $1,500 if married filing separately. State limitations may apply.
